Don’t know how to use a plunger? Here’s a quick guide on how to unclog a toilet:
- First, gather your materials. You’ll need a plunger, rubber gloves, and old towels or rags to handle any spills or mess.
- Lay towels or rags around the base of the toilet to catch any water that may overflow during the unclogging process.
- Get ready to plunge! Make sure that there is enough water in the toilet to submerge the head of the plunger. If there isn’t enough, simply add more in. Place the plunger over the drain opening at the bottom of the toilet bowl. Ensure a tight seal by pres
- sing it down firmly.
- Then, apply pressure. With the plunger fully covering the drain, push down gently and then pull up forcefully, creating suction. Repeat this plunging motion several times, maintaining a good seal, to dislodge the clog. The suction and pressure generated by the plunger should help move the blockage.
- After several plunges, check if the water is draining. If it does, flush the toilet to clear away any remaining debris. If not, continue plunging.
- Repeat the plunging if necessary: If the clog persists, repeat the process until the toilet begins to drain effectively.
